Improving Tire Longevity

With simple maintenance practices

  • To prevent tire wear and minimize the likelihood of tire failure, always ensure that you check the tire pressure before using your trailer. Keep the tires inflated to the maximum PSI specified on the sidewall or the PSI recommended in your trailer's user manual. Proper inflation is essential for durability, weight-carrying capacity, and better heat dissipation.
  • Using an air pressure gauge is the most reliable way to determine if your tires are correctly inflated. In some situations, an under-inflated tire may not appear visibly low, and trailer tires may appear to be fully inflated but have an unsafe air pressure.
  • Refer to your tire sidewall to find the maximum tire pressure. Look for the "Max. Load" notation followed by a PSI number, or consult your trailer user manual.

Additional tire maintenance recommendations include:

  • Conduct a visual inspection of your tires before each trip.
  • When you’re storing your trailer for the off-season, use tire covers to protect them from early wear. Park in a cool, dry place.
  • Keep caps on tire air valve stems to prevent debris and moisture from entering.
  • If you observe excessive or uneven tire wear, consult a tire expert or your Futura trailer dealer to assess the issue and determine a solution.
  • Always replace your tires with tires that have the same load rating as the ones originally supplied with the trailer. Contact your Futura dealer, or Futura Trailers directly for replacement tires.
  • Replacing tires with a set that has a higher load capacity does not necessarily resolve uneven wear issues. If there is a problem with the trailer's alignment, suspension, or axles, the same issue is likely to occur with the new set.
